One of the most useful and useful Microsoft Word skills that you can master is how to use Track Changes in Word. The ability to see and comment on every change made to a document, no matter how small, makes a Word document a versatile collaboration tool, especially in the age of remote work. In the reconsidering Tab, hover over a file track changes , and you will notice that, like other buttons in Word, this button is divided into two buttons. The bottom half controls the feature’s parameters—in this case, its changes are tracked. The top half of the button is the toggle switch that turns the feature on or off.

Once turned on, any change in the document will be indicated either on the page or in the margin in a balloon. We’ll run it here and correct some errors in the text.

It can be hard to see these changes. To make it more clear, use an extension Show tags button (next to file track changes button) to select Show reviews in balloons.

How to show or hide changes

on right track changes Button, three smaller buttons help you to control the feature. The top of these buttons should be set to All tags By default, all reviews are displayed on the page. If you do not want to view the changes made, this button will give you several options:

  • Simple description: This will hide the changes, but indicate the font has changed with a red tick in the left margin.
  • All tags: This will display the changes made, either inline or in the margin.
  • no characterization: This will display the changed text without indicating what or where it was changed.
  • creative: This text will display before any tracked changes are made.

How to accept or reject changes

There are two main ways to accept or reject changes made to a document. The first is to right-click on an individual correction, either inline or in the margin, which will bring up a menu with options to accept or reject the change made.

The other way is to use the buttons at the top of the page. Place your cursor at the beginning of the document to ensure you don’t miss any changes. Then click File next one A button to start reviewing the tracked changes.

While Word is highlighting each revision, tap either Acceptance or the to reject button. This will perform the indicated action and bring up the next tracked change.

The ability to discuss the review process by commenting on individual corrections or entire sections of a document makes Word Track Changes a collaborative tool. Again, there are two main ways to achieve this.

The first method is the tried-and-true right-click method. Right-click on a review, and a drop-down menu will appear giving you two places to choose from to add a comment.

The other way is to use new comment button at the top of the page. Use the pointer to highlight the change you want to discuss and click new comment button. You can also use a file new comment A button to comment on a sentence or paragraph instead of a review. Just highlight what you want to comment on and click new comment button.

Using either method, a comment box will appear in the appropriate place. Type what you want to say about the revision and press CTRL-Enter to include it in Track Changes.

You can edit or delete your comment if you said something you didn’t want to say. The controls to do this are located in the comment box itself. The pencil icon will let you edit the Track Changes comment, and a three-dot drop-down menu will let you delete it completely.

Clicking the bottom half of the track changes The button provides an option for lock tracking. Clicking this will bring up a window that allows you to protect track changes with a password, so that no one without the password can turn it off.

In your print menu, tap Print all pages. then under Document informationtap on markup printing button to cancel it. Your document will now print without displaying the Track Changes flag.
