Google’s Pixel Pass has been available for a while now, allowing US consumers to get a Pixel phone and many other services for a single monthly fee. It really does save you some cash in the long run, although we felt Google made it difficult for you to sign up if you were already using their services.

More than 950 votes were cast in this poll, and the most popular choice turned out to be “Maybe, I’m thinking of that” with 44.9% of the votes. This suggests that people are fascinated by the Pixel Pass, but readers’ comments actually agree with C Scott Brown when it comes to the tricky registration process.

Saying that, the second most popular choice was “No, I don’t have an interest in Pixel Pass”, which accounts for 33% of the vote. Rounding out the top three was “Yes, I’m looking forward to signing up soon”, with 14.51% of the vote.

Finally, 7.57% of respondents said they had already signed up for a Pixel Pass. It makes sense to see quite a few people sign up given that it’s limited to the US and the market share of the Pixel line is very small in this region. However, the survey shows that two-thirds of respondents have either registered an interest in a Pixel Pass or said they already own it.


  • Kenneth McConkey: I’ve almost thought about this for my current phone, but I have a YouTube Premium Family subscription, and I’m not willing to kick my friends and family out of it. They need to support family plans. Even if I had to cancel and rejoin, it would be fine if I could choose a family plan. Google One’s 200 GB plan would be an upgrade to my existing 100 GB plan. And Play Pass would be great too. I will upgrade to Pixel 7 Pro when it comes out. If a YouTube family member supports it by then, I’ll get a Pixel Pass.

  • Brandon: Having to cancel the current YouTube installment was the biggest pain. Not only am I now paying more for it, I was originally with my old plan, but since I had to wait for them to charge my phone, I didn’t get any premium at all for 2 months.
  • KaiVallon: I got the card so I could upgrade my pixel 2 xl, I also found the registration to be annoying and I was too nervous to cancel all my subscriptions before starting new ones. Also, my partner and I share a Spotify family plan, but since I couldn’t arrange for both of us to use YouTube Music, we still use Spotify.
  • brooks: I recently upgraded from a pixel 4xl to a 6 pro and chose pixel scroll on exit. After guiding me through a quick detour to cancel the YouTube premium, which took about 3 minutes, I was good to go. I received a confirmation email within 10 minutes telling me my Play pass was activated and YouTube was activated. I got the phone two days later. I can see the problem if you have a family plan, but I found the process to be very simple and inconvenient.
  • Pat H. Otto: I subscribed to Pixel Pass and my problem was with Synchrony. They simply couldn’t figure out how to edit my bill so my monthly bill was $45 + tax. After many conversations with them and with Google I gave up. After 6 months, I canceled the phone and kept it. My husband, who signed up through Fi had no problems.
