Before you get too excited, the rumor isn’t quite a leak with the phones’ full spec sheet. However, we do get some information about the possible camera setup on the Z Fold 5 and Samsung’s sales strategy.
Fewer Samsung foldable devices in 2023?
According to a report by Korean publications electricitySamsung is significantly lowering its shipping targets for the Z Fold 5 and Z Flip 5. This means that the company plans to sell fewer foldable phones in 2023 than this year and the previous ones.
Specifically, it appears that Samsung has set a total target of 10 million units for the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Z Flip 5. The company is expected to distribute only two million units from the previous one. Samsung is believed to be betting more on its shell, the Galaxy Z Flip 5, and is targeting shipments of eight million units of the phone.
In contrast, Samsung has reportedly set a target of 15 million units for the upcoming Z Fold 4 and Z Flip 4.
Samsung’s reduced targets for foldable phones for 2023 are attributed to rising raw material prices, a protracted Russia-Ukrainian war, and slow economic growth. Of course, it’s too early to predict the phones’ actual production and shipping goals since they’re almost a year away from launch. For all we know, Samsung could hit the targets by the time launch approaches.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 specifications leaked
electricity He has also shared some specifications of the Galaxy Z Fold 5. According to the port, the phone will have three cameras on the back, including a 50MP Samsung GN3 sensor. The phone could also have a 12MP front camera.
The Galaxy Z Fold 4 is also expected to have three rear cameras, including a 50MP main camera, a 12MP ultrawide camera, and a 12MP 3x telephoto lens. Perhaps, Samsung will keep the same setting on the Z Fold 5.
Other than that, the port says that both the Fold 5 and Flip 5 should be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC expected to debut at the end of the year. That’s kind of obvious. Samsung has always used Qualcomm’s flagship SoCs for its foldable phones, and next year shouldn’t be any different. We’ll probably have a Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 2 chip by then and get it on phones.
